SINGING BOWLS

singing bowls are ancient instruments used for healing and meditation, creating altered states of consciousness and deep relaxation.

A couple of years ago I had the privilege of meeting a blacksmith and singing-bowl maker who has been teaching me the art of making my own singing bowls and healing instruments which now accompany me on musical meditations, sound-weaving concerts and in sound healing sessions.

Singing-Bowl-Making Workshop with Ton Akkermans

Create your own singing bowl, bell, cymbal, or other metal healing instrument

A sound healer and blacksmith create space for you to tune into the musical resonance of different metals and the sacred sound they create.

The weekend begins with a concert of singing bowls and other metal , hand crafted instruments (made by Ton)  together with Cello and voice.

You will experience the sound and resonance of different metals crafted into healing musical instruments and you will choose one you resonate with personally to make yourself during the weekend. We will learn about holding a strong intention and focus as we beat the metal in order to imprint  the instrument with the right vibration.
Many of the ancient Tibetan and Nepalese singing bowls , bells and gongs have been created with a specific intention, holding the frequency of a particular time and purpose. They can be re-tuned to resonate with the time and purpose of Now but we also need to create new instruments created specifically to vibrate with the frequencies of this time for purposes of healing and attunement.
All matter is sound resonating at different frequencies, that is why sound can be a powerful healer (and destroyer in its negative form)
Bringing consciousness to how we use sound and develop sensitivity to resonance will be part of the workshop.

The weekend will end with the initiation and attunement of the new instruments that have been created.

Ton Akkermans is from Holland and has worked as a blacksmith most of his life.

He recalls his experience as a blacksmith in other lifetimes and cultures, creating singing bowls and metal instruments in ancient Tibet. This prompted him to start creating singing bowls and other healing instruments for this time now which now he dedicates his life to. He gives sound healing concerts and workshops with his many handcrafted instruments.
